If you’re nervous about your medication falling into the wrong hands, our Durango Dentistry team is happy to give you some helpful tips!

We care about the safety of your medications because Dr. Dr. Greg Mann and Dr. Ross Owens tends to prescribe medications when you have undergone extensive dental treatment. So, to help you keep your medicine away from those who might abuse it, our team recommends that you do the following things:

Communicate with your family and friends
Tell your loved ones about the dangers of abusing prescription drugs. Explain how using these drugs for non-medical purposes is illegal and unsafe. The drugs can also be extremely addictive and even lethal. They are only meant for the person to whom they are prescribed.

Keep the medicine in a secure place
It’s best to keep the medication in a locked and secure place. It’s even better if that place is unpredictable or inaccessible. That way, your family members and friends will not be able to find or access your drugs in the first place.

Monitor the pills
Keep count of how many pills you have left. It’s also smart to remember how many refills you have. This will help you know if someone is getting into your medication and using it without your consent.
