If you have spaces in your smile, you should talk to your dentist about your tooth replacement options. Missing teeth can allow your remaining teeth to drift our of their proper alignment. When that happens, your teeth can strike each other at the wrong angle, which can cause a loss of tooth enamel and other damage to your teeth. With a full set of teeth, you can bite, chew and speak more effectively. And of course, a complete smile has cosmetic benefits as well.

Many people opt for dental implants to replace their missing teeth. Implants have several distinct advantages. They are made up of prosthetic teeth that are fixed to titanium implants. Those implants are placed directly into the jawbone, making them very sturdy. You can brush and floss your implants just as you do your regular teeth, and they are designed to blend in with the rest of your smile. However implants do require surgery. You must have healthy gums and enough jawbone to support them, and certain illnesses, medications and conditions may preclude you getting implants.

Dental bridges on the other hand, do not require surgery, and your bridge is attached to to two crowns in your mouth. While a bridge is not as sturdy as implants, there are fewer health requirements to have one placed, and the process does not take as long.
