Your smile may need a little work. You may not need an entire tooth restored, but you might be ready for a few improvements. If you look in the mirror, and see stained or discolored teeth, cracks or chips or even spaces between your teeth that could be closed, you might want to talk with your dentist about getting veneers.

Veneers are very thin shells that fit over your teeth and are custom-designed for you. Here at Durango Dentistry in Durango, Colorado, we use veneers made from dental-grade porcelain. Veneers can be used to cover teeth that have been damaged or stained. Veneers are very durable and don’t stain easily, making them ideal for concealing stains and damage and closing the spaces between teeth. Moreover, a veneer can be designed to match the color of your other teeth, making it difficult to notice

The process is not difficult. In order for the veneer to adhere properly to your tooth, the dentist will remove very small amount of the material on the surface of your tooth. An impression of your tooth will be sent to a lab for a veneer to be created. When it is ready, your dentist will cement it in place. If you take good care of your teeth and your veneer, it should last you anywhere from 10 to 15 years.Your dentist may suggest another procedure if you do not have healthy or strong teeth, or if your teeth do not have enough enamel. If you are prone to clenching or grinding your teeth, you might want to consider other restoration options. You should brush and floss with veneers just as you would your normal teeth.

If you are considering dental veneers, or another cosmetic procedure, our dentists, Dr. Greg Mann and Dr. Ross Owens would love the chance to see you for an examination and consultation. To schedule an appointment at our office, please call 970.259.1646.
